G. Answer the following questions. 

1. Why does a computer system need memory?

Ans. Memory is the storage capacity of a computer, which helps it function. It stores information.

2.  Differentiate between RAM and ROM.

Ans. RAM:- RAM is stand for Random Access Memory. RAM is volatile memory that temporarily stores the files you are working on

ROM:- ROM is stand for Read-Only Memory. ROM is non-volatile memory that permanently stores instructions for your computer. 

3. Describe the need for the external or secondary memory.

Ans. The computer's internal memory is limited and temporary. Therefore, there is need to use secondary memory.

4. Classify the types of CD.

Ans. CD is of two types:

(1) CD-R is recordable and write-once format. The data written onto this cannot be erased.

(2) CD-RW is rewritable CD. The data written onto this can be erased and new data can be recorded. 


5. Write a short note on pen-drive.

Ans. A pen drive is also called a flash drive. It is small in size, scratch resistant and easy to carry and transfer data from one computer to another. It has various storage capacity such as 2GB, 4GB, 8Gb, up to 1 TB.
